"Fact: You start to get hurt the moment you begin to care."
That's false. When you really care for someone, you won't expect for anything in return. If there is nothing you expect in return, whether they turn your help down, they receive it and don't give a fuck about you, you may feel disappointed. Not hurt. Unless you have an ulterior motive of caring for someone... Then it isn't caring. It's trading.
It's a bonus if they recognise it, it's okay if they don't.
"If a guy cries over a girl, he must really love her."
The guy will never cry over a girl if he loves her. Maybe cry for her, but not over/because of her. If the guy loves her, he'll let her go. He'll let her go if she wants to, because apparently she doesn't feel happy with him. And if he loves her, he'll care about whether she's happy or not. Letting her go to her happiness, would make the guy happy, if he loved her. But if she left for someone worse, then yeah, the guy would be sad, cry FOR her. But not over her, not because of her, not because she left. But because she chose unhappiness instead.
